ABOUT THE ARTIST

Tatiana Berman is a London-based artist and violinist whose paintings are held in private collections across the US, UK, Austria, China, Germany, France, Japan, Russia, Taiwan, and Australia. Her work has been described as "mesmerising", "inspiring", and "radiating luminous energy".

Tatiana's practice centres on mineral presence and the quiet transformation of matter. Using Himalayan salt as a primary medium, she builds layered, crystalline surfaces that hold light, depth, and subtle movement. As illumination shifts, the works move from iridescent and radiant to soft and contemplative - creating a living dialogue with their surroundings.

Himalayan salt is combined with acrylic, glazes, and iridescent and gold pigments to create surfaces that are tactile, elemental, and quietly luminous. Each piece is professionally stabilised using archival methods to ensure structural integrity and longevity, while preserving the crystalline character that defines the work.

Tatiana's work has been exhibited at venues including Constella Arts, Cincinnati; St John's Church Notting Hill Gallery, London (The Four Seasons, September - October 2024); The Mall Galleries, London (Art for Youth, 2024); and Oxford Studio, Notting Hill, London (Art & Sound Constellations events).

ARTIST STATEMENT

My work explores mineral presence, geological time, and the quiet transformation of matter. Using Himalayan salt as a primary medium, I build layered, crystalline surfaces that hold light, depth, and subtle movement. As illumination shifts, the works move from luminous and radiant to soft and contemplative, creating a living dialogue with their surroundings.

Creating has been instinctive to me for as long as I can remember. Ideas tend to arrive with persistence and unfold through an intuitive yet deliberate process of layering, glazing, and material exploration. I am drawn to the way salt carries the memory of geological formation, and I translate that sense of accumulation and compression into contemporary compositions that feel both grounded and atmospheric.

Himalayan salt is combined with acrylic, glazes, and iridescent and gold pigments to create surfaces that are tactile, elemental, and quietly luminous. At the heart of the work is a balance between permanence and fragility — a reflection of natural forces and the subtle energy that exists within material itself. Each piece is professionally stabilized using archival methods to ensure structural integrity and longevity, while preserving the crystalline character that defines the work.

The Spirit Series

A reflection of the multi-dimensional world we inhabit - exploring what exists but is unseen to the naked eye. Each piece brings a unique perspective from within the full spectrum of existence.

The Eye Series

Works that convey the importance of opening our physical and metaphysical eyes to the present moment, and the light within each of us. Each piece strives to inspire - igniting a desire to be fully present and in alignment with the infinite energy of the universe.

Other Works

Other Works is a collection that resists a single theme. Drawing on colour, abstraction, and ideas from beyond the physical world, these pieces are inspired by life events, people, and the lingering residue of vivid dreams. Each work is singular - unbound by series, and often the most unexpected.

COMMISSION A WORK

Each of Tatiana's paintings begins with a conversation. If you are drawn to a particular series, a colour, a feeling - or if you have a space in mind and want something made specifically for it - Tatiana welcomes commission enquiries from collectors worldwide.

Commissioned works are created using the same materials and methods as her exhibited pieces - Himalayan salt, acrylic, glazes, and iridescent and gold pigments - and are professionally stabilised for longevity. Each piece is unique and will not be reproduced.
